Air Fryer Sweet and Spicy Salmon

Air Fryer Sweet and Spicy Salmon- a handful of seasonings, honey, and 6 to 8 minutes in the air fryer are all you need to make this healthy meal.

This recipe can be made start to finish in under 15 minutes.

Salmon is one of my favorite foods to air fry. It cooks really quickly, gets crispy on the outside and stays wonderfully moist on the inside.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE AIR FRYER SWEET AND SPICY SALMON:

  • Salmon Fillets– wild-caught is prefered to farm-raised.
  • Honey
  • Chili Powder– I prefer an ancho or chipotle chili powder to a generic blend.
  • Paprika– regular, sweet or smoked depending on your preference.
  • Garlic Powder
  • Crushed Red Pepper Flakes– Cayenne pepper can be used instead.
  • salt and pepper

RECIPE TIPS:

Don’t forget to spray some oil on the air fryer basket.

If you have frozen salmon, it’s best to let it thaw out before air frying it. It’s really hard to get the spices to stick to frozen salmon. Luckily salmon doesn’t take long to thaw.

The cooking time is an estimate and can vary based on your brand of air fryer and the size of your salmon fillets as well as whether you like your salmon medium rare or well done. Give it a peak at the 6 minute mark and use a fork to gently press the flesh at the thickest portion to one side so you can see the middle. If it is still bright red, it needs to cook longer.

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 salmon fillets
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat salmon dry with paper towels. Spray the air fryer basket with oil and place salmon in the basket.

  2. Place honey and remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Microwave for 10 seconds. Stir and brush on the salmon fillets.

  3. Air fry at 390 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes.

    So, no flipping partway through? Brush only the top side? (Just want to be sure I’m doing it right. I keep seeing everyone loves salmon in their af and I love salmon. This recipe sounds delicious!!
