Inside-Out Sausage Egg Sandwiches are an awesome low carb breakfast minus the biscuit or bread. This keto McMuffin is packed with protein.
The bread or buns for this recipe are made from scrambled eggs. Sandwiched between the egg buns are a sausage patty and a slice of American cheese.
How to Make Inside-Out Sausage and Egg Sandwiches:
- Whisk the eggs. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat butter in a nonstick pan. Place a greased ring mold in the pan. Add 1/4 of the egg mixture.
- Add a little water to the pan away from the ring mold. Place a lid on top and steam the eggs. It won’t take long for the eggs to cook, so keep taking peaks. If you have multiple ring molds, you can cook the eggs faster.
- Sandwich a sausage patty and cheese slice between two egg buns. If needed, you can briefly microwave to get the cheese melted.
Equipment Needed for This Recipe:
- 3-inch ring mold or cookie cutter for forming the egg buns.
- Nonstick pan.
These Low Carb Egg Sandwiches are really versatile. Switch out the regular sausage for turkey sausage or use bacon. Any type of cheese can be used. Add a slice of avocado for some healthy fats.
I use the whole eggs for the buns, but you can use just egg whites to cut fat and calories.
