Air Fryer Southern Pork Chops are soaked in buttermilk and coated in seasoned flour. They fry up juicy and flavorful without all the extra calories and fat of frying in oil. Serve with some mashed potatoes, green beans, and creamed corn for a tasty and filling southern meal you don’t have to feel guilty about. Perfect for Sunday supper. Just like your grandmother made, but much healthier.

I love using my Air Fryer XL 5.3 QT Air Fryer to make light and healthy meals. It’s also great for reheating things quickly. It’s almost as quick at reheating as the microwave but gets the crispiness you get from reheating in the oven.

The pork chops first get coated in a buttermilk/Tabasco sauce mixture. Soaking the pork chops in buttermilk helps keep them tender and moist. Next they are seasoned with seasoned salt and coated in a mixture of flour, paprika and pepper. Use a mister to spray them with oil. It’s best to buy a mister instead of using an aerosel spray like Pam because they contain aeresol agents that can break down the nonstick surface.

I like to use bone-in pork chops because I think they have more flavor and stay moister, but you could use boneless chops.

The cooking time will vary some depending on how thick your chops are.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup low fat buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 (1/2-inch) bone-in pork chops
  • seasoned salt

Instructions

  1. Place buttermilk and hot sauce in a large zip top bag. Add pork chops and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  2. Combine flour, paprika, and black pepper in a shallow dish.

  3. Remove pork chops from bag, sprinkle seasoned salt on both sides and coat in flour mixture.

  4. Preheat Air Fryer to 400 degrees.

  5. Lightly spray pork chops and air fryer basket with oil. Fry 2 pork chops at a time for about 12 minutes, turning halfway through. It's a good idea to spray them with a little more oil when you flip them over.
