You can serve these Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets with Honey Mustard, Ranch, or BBQ Sauce. I especially like to cut them into pieces and add them to a salad.
Frozen nuggets and fast food chicken nuggets are full of processed ingredients. You really don’t even want to know what’s in them. With these chicken nuggets, you know exactly what you are putting in your body.
How long does it take to air fry chicken nuggets?
Cooking times should be used as an estimate as they vary greatly from air fryer to air fryer. I find that 8 minutes at 400 degrees is just about right for my Air Fryer. It’s enough time to get the breading crispy, but the inside stays juicy.
I use the Power XL Air Fryer and have been very happy with it but there are lots of good ones out there.
I use 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts and find that to be plenty for 4 servings. Cut them into 1-inch pieces and toss them in a little all-purpose flour seasoned with paprika and garlic powder.
Dip them in buttermilk with a little hot sauce added and then coat them in a mixture of bread crumbs and Panko crumbs. Spritz them with just a little oil and air fry them for about 8 minutes, flipping them halfway.

Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets
Air fryer Chicken Nuggets fry up super crispy with just a little spritz of oil. Much healthier and tastier than frozen.
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1/2 cup dried bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup Panko crumbs
Cut chicken into 1-inch pieces. Season with salt.
Place flour, paprika, and garlic powder in a shallow bowl.
In a bowl, whisk together buttermilk and hot sauce.
In a shallow dish, combine bread crumbs and Panko crumbs.
Coat chicken pieces in flour mixture. Shake off excess and coat in buttermilk mixture.
Press into bread crumb mixture. Lightly spray coated chicken pieces with cooking spray.
Preheat Air Fryer at 400 for 3 minutes.
Cook for 8 minutes, flipping halfway through and spritzing with a little more oil if necessary. Don't crowd the chicken nuggets in the air fryer. Cook in 2 batches if necessary.
