Air Fryer Teriyaki Wings are wonderfully crispy and coated in a sticky, sweet and salty homemade teriyaki sauce with a little spice.
They are easy to make in an air fryer and take just 30 minutes. I love cooking wings in the air fryer. They get as crispy as deep frying without all the extra fat and calories and they take less time than baking.
How to Make Air Fryer Teriyaki Wings:
- If your wings are whole, split them into flappers and drummettes and discard the wing tips.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Toss them in a bowl with cornstarch. The cornstarch will help get the wings crispy.
- Lightly spray both the wings and air fryer basket with oil. Cook the wings in batches so you don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. You need the air to be able to circulate around them.
- Air fry at 400 degrees for 22 minutes, flipping them over halfway through.
- Repeat with second batch.
- Make the sauce in a small saucepan while the wings are air frying.
- Toss the wings with the sauce and air fry for 3 more minutes.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions and serve.
How Long Do Wings Take to Cook in the Air Fryer?
It depends on the temperature you cook them at, but on average wings take about 22-24 minutes to cook in an air fryer. This is for non-frozen wings. Air fryer cooking times can vary greatly, so use the cooking time as an estimate and turn them over halfway though to ensure they cook evenly and get as crispy as possible.
Note: It is best to put the sauce on after the wings have cooked or else the wings won’t get crispy and the sauce will likely burn. After saucing them, return them to the air fryer for a few minutes to caramelize the sauce so that it really sticks to the wings.
