With just a tiny bit of oil, these sweet potato fries are a healthy snack or side to a burger or sandwich.

This method for cooking sweet potato fries is a little different than most. It’s a way of doing it I learned from Air Fry Genius. First, you’ll air fry the potatoes at 200 degrees for 10 minutes to get them partially cooked and get some of the water to evaporate and then you’ll turn the heat up to 400 degrees to get them crispy. The classic problem with sweet potato fries is sweet potatoes have so much moisture, it is hard to get them crispy. This longer cooking method really helps get them crispy.

How To Cut Sweet Potato Fries:

Start by peeling your potatoes. You can leave the skin on if you like, but scrub them well. I prefer the skin off for sweet potatoes.

Use a sharp knife. Sweet potatoes are a little difficult to cut. I like to start by cutting them in half so they have a flat surface to work with. Place the flat side down so it doesn’t wobble as you cut it.

Keep cutting until you have fries that are about 1/4-inch thick. Skinny fries will get crisper than thick fries. The main thing is to get them roughly the same size so they are done at the same time.

How To Season Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries:

Salt is really all they need, but for more flavor try adding a little paprika, black pepper, and garlic powder. Add a little cayenne pepper if you want them spicy.

Recipe Tips:

Do not crowd the fries in the air fryer basket. Cook in 2 batches if necessary. You want the air to be able to circulate around each fry.

Air fryer cooking times vary. Watch the fries carefully near the end of the cooking time because they can go from slightly undercooked to burnt quickly.

These Sweet Potato Fries will lose their crispness over time so it is best to eat them right away.
