Nothing beats homemade biscuits and the air fryer is great for making biscuits when you don’t want to turn the oven on or you don’t have access to an oven.
How To Make Air Fryer Buttermilk Biscuits:
- Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl.

What you will need for this recipe:
- Air Fryer– I like to use the Ninja Air Fryer.
- Biscuit Cutter– 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter works well.
Recipe Tips:
You want the ingredients to be cold. It doesn’t hurt to stick the bowl that you will be using to mix the biscuits in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
If your hands tend to run hot, rub your fingers on some ice cubes. That way they won’t melt the butter.
Any biscuits that are not going to be eaten right away can be frozen for later use.
If you’d rather make buttermilk biscuits in the oven, you can bake these in a 450 degree oven for about 12 to 14 minutes. Or try this 3-Ingredient Buttermilk Biscuits recipe or Callie’s Buttermilk Biscuits.

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 8 tablespoons cold salted butter, cut into small cubes
- 1 cup cold buttermilk
- melted butter, optional
Instructions
-
Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and baking soda in a large bowl.
-
Add the butter and work it in with your fingers until there are no pieces larger than a pea.
-
Pour the buttermilk evenly over the mixture and use a rubber spatula to mix it in.
Mix just until a dough comes together. If there is any loose flour that won't mix in, add a drizzle more buttermilk.
-
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Pat it into a 1/2-inch thick circle.
-
Use a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter to cut as many biscuits as you can. You can reroll the scraps to cut one more.
Note: Use an up and down motion with the biscuit cutter. Do not twist.
-
Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and air fry half of the biscuits at 325 degrees for 12 to 16 minutes.
Refrigerate the remaining ones.
-
Once the first batch is done, remove the ones from the refrigerator and repeat.
-
If desired, brush the tops of the cooked biscuits with melted butter.
Recipe Notes
You can use unsalted butter. Just add a pinch more salt.
Your butter and buttermilk should be very cold. It also helps to stick the bowl you will be using in the refrigerator beforehand so it will be cold too.
