Air Fryer Buttermilk Drop Biscuits are buttery and crispy on the outside and have a tender, moist interior. So easy to make in an air fryer.
Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
Note: I like to stick the bowl with the flour mixture in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before adding the butter.
Add the butter and cut it in with a pastry blender or your fingers until there are no pieces larger than a pea.
Stir in the buttermilk adding just enough to moisten all the flour. Do not overmix.
Stick the bowl in the fridge while you preheat the air fryer.
Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees.
Place a piece of parchment paper in the air fryer basket, spray it with cooking spray and use a greased 1/4 cup measuring cup to scoop dough and drop it on the parchment paper. You should be able to cook about 5 biscuits at a time.
Lightly spray tops of biscuits with oil.
Air fry at 400 degrees for 8 to 9 minutes.
Optional: Brush tops with melted butter.
Note: Place the bowl of dough in the refrigerator while the first batch of biscuits air fry.
Repeat with second batch of biscuits.
